Divinity LaBelle
"When you pull out your old dolls from the attic...everything seems so different. Nothing has changed — they’re still dressed in the mismatched outfits you put them in when you were little. There’s still marks on their rubber skin. But they’re so much smaller than you recall them to be. From the past to the present, they shrunk. Like life, they were so much bigger when you were a part of it. When you look at the trees as the traffic is slow, when you don’t avoid the rain.
Perhaps we don’t need to suffer to make beautiful art. But if we ignore our own darkness, we’d be sacrificing our own divinity. "
